We here at MobiSite are really impressed with the New Look mobile site.

It has a very fast loading time over wi-fi and 3G even with a slideshow gallery loading on the home page. Also the drop down buttons that appear on the home page are seriously slick and allow for multiple sub-pages without the need for further scrolling (which can irritate).

Once you have decided the section you would like to browse you are greeted with a neat looking Grid View of the results, which can easily be changed in the top right of the page.

Having the breadcrumb of the sections your are in is a details sometimes left out by retailers but we think it is a massive bonus to have this option in for the user. Also having a next button on the top and the bottom of the results is a big thumbs up (small but great addition).

We do think that one small thing is missing from the site and that is when you tap on a particular item it does not highlight that item to signify that it has been pressed. It may seem a small problem but we can see that some users will not realise that the item they have chosen will appear.

We do really like the zoom tool on an individual item and also the easy to use slideshow gallery of multiple angles of the item. The ADD TO MY BAG feature seems to be one of the best features. If you do take a look it does add the item all within that session rather than the browser refreshing. It also changes colour (we are easily pleased).

As with the Best Buy mobile site one of the best assets the New Look site has is the Store Locator and Get Directions tool. Both are integrated in the same fashion (see what we did there) and work perfectly.

Our Score: 5/5

Yet another 5/5 for a site we have reviewed. Will try our best to bring some mcommerce gone bad.

I have to say that we are really impressed with the new mcommerce site for BestBuy.

It seems to be very crisp, clean and super quick (even over 3g). At first you are greeted with quite a low res image (even for a mobile), but this does not distract you from the navigation and search bar of the site.

The vertical navigation options for the selected areas are smaller than you would usually find (compared to say Amazon), but yet again this is a good thing as there is less propensity for the user to slide the site down.

Another big thumbs up is for the Footer of the site, it is great. It places what we think think are the fundamental areas a user may want to visit including T&C’s, Privacy Policy and the VERY IMPORTANT Full Site.

But here @mobi_site we all agree that the PIECE DE RESISTANCE has to be the Store Locator. It seems to use more of the jQuery Mobile Framework than the rest of the site does including a slide from right to left when choosing your local store. It also includes a great “Directions from where you are” button which (on iPhone) opens up the Maps App and shows you the way.

If we are to have 1 criticism that would be the quality of some of the buttons. We understand that the lower the quality the less the browser has to do to render it thus improving page speed. But we think they could improve those without a dramatic increase in loading times.

Our Score: 5/5

Hi my name is Ray, and I am a Mobile Web Developer here at MobiSite with years of experience designing and developing Websites.

MobiSite.co.uk was created from the idea that every website on the internet should be totally accessible from a mobile device, without the need for zooming or rotating the device.

Believe it or not, there are over 5,300 different mobile screen sizes, resolutions and operating systems. These all have a different way of presenting text, images and buttons. Our systems make sure your mobile website looks right on every single one, so when someone tries to find you on their phone it just works.

With all that in mind we look to bring you up to date news and featured projects we have worked on.
